'Dishonest' Abe

I need to storyboard a short animation of abe lincoln giving a tour at a sitcom's set that is going horribly wrong. Here is Abe's background story.

Favorite Food: Apple Pie
Hobby: Trickery
Biggest Fear: the Truth
Favorite Place to Sleep: the remade tourist log cabin "he grew up in"
Where does he live: in his pent house in Las Angelas
Favorite Show: Candid Camera
Favorite Obnoxious Sound: an airy soft "a" sound he puts after all of his sentences
Dominant Trait: Compulsive Lying
Where He Grew Up: backwoods, Kentucky
Backstory: Abe Lincoln was born to two humble parents somewhere in the backwoods of Kentucky. When he was still a baby, his real mother died of Potato Disease and before he was old enough to remember, his father re-married. During his teenage years, Abe worked at a local general store. He was hailed as a responsible 'nice young man' who worked diligently. Stores spread of his dedication to honesty. For example, one time a women who bought some tea and Abe overcharged her by 25 cents. He is known for returning the extra 25 cent he had charged, what people don't know is that he overcharged her by 30 cents. After his teenage years, Abe became a famous lawyer, the perfect career to continue to practice his subtle trickery. As everyone knows, he became President of the USA in 1860. He was overjoyed to achieve such a high position but he started to regret it all when he hear of a war brewing between the country. He knew this was going to be a pain in the butt. He cared so little of the occurrence that when he was asked to address the union, he couldn't even think of two minutes of filler. Luckily, no one caught on to his apathy and now his speech his hailed to be one of the greatest speeches in history. The nuisance of the war finally ended but he was unfortunate enough to be reelected by the people (damn that two minute speech). He couldn't take it any longer so his hired an old friend of his, John Booth, to stage his death. He was concerned the plan was too ridiculous because the only place they could stage his death was in a theater. Fortunately, no one questioned his death and he was able to escape to the west coast. Currently, his lives in Las Angelas working as an Abe Lincoln impersonator, this way he can act and dress as he once did without anyone being suspicious.  
Kind of Parents: a distant hard working father and a suspicious but loving mother, who Abe suspects is actually a step-mother.
Best Thing That Ever Happened To Him: after his presidency, him and his buddy John faked Abe's death. Now he lives in Las Angelas working as an Abe Lincoln impersonator. 
The Worst Thing That Ever Happened To Him: he couldn't open up to his first love and express who he really was and what he really wanted. as a result, she became deathly ill and pass away. Abe blames himself.

so this is a beautiful watercolor comic.

i thought watercolors for a comic would be sweet to try out, so i butchered myself a comic.

the only comparison that you should be doing between these to comics is the medium. one is watercolor, the other is watercolor. no more comparison needed.  :S

these are some of my favorites

one of my favorite web comics the gamer's comic, Ctrl+Alt+Del by Tim Buckly. I read it for a good two years but currently, I'm out of the loop. Check it out at http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/.

Another comic I enjoy is FreakAngels (http://www.freakangels.com/?p=23) written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Paul Duffield. It is beautifully done. It is extremely impressive out the pop one of this out a week. I got pretty far in this one but haven't had the time catch up. I would love to though.

My third favorite comic is everyone's favorite comic. Do I even need to explain?

inked: aspect-to-aspect

behold, it's been inked. i used a sweet screen/wacom tablet to ink this in. it was pretty fun.

aspect-to-aspect

aspect-to-aspect is a technique used to introduce a scene. usually various closeups are used to paint a larger picture so that the viewer can get a feels for the scenario he is placed in. here is a great example of some introductory aspect-to-aspect shots:

here are six apsect-to-aspect reference shots that i will be drawing and posting later. there are from the department of nursing. i got scolded by a professor for talking these pictures, so i had to use them.

3. attaching the head to the body

i am still having trouble attaching the head to the body. i don't know what to do with the whole neck area. i think i'll just skip it. i drew a couple poses with just a simple skeleton

then i added some flesh. as you can see, some practice is still needed on the body as a whole.

after finding a sketch i liked, i then inked it and re-drew it until i felt fairly comfortable drawing it.

some people are born graced with a hand that can realize onto paper whatever is in their heads. then there are those people who have to dedicated themselves to painstaking practice for years just to get where the others began. unfortunately, i fall into the latter of those two categories.
