Story Treatment

WIDE. LOG CABIN SET
Tourist silhouette’s come in from scene left and move into foreground. Abe prances onto the set of the log cabin designed to look like the cabin where he grew up. He waves he arms around showing off the set. There is a kitchen like area, a rocking chair with a stand, and a fireplace. He goes to sit on the
 rocking chair.

MEDIUM. ROCKING CHAIR
Abe finished sitting on the chair, demonstrating how it rocks (haha, pun). He gets a little too excited about rocking on the chair and he hears a crack.

CLOSE UP. BROKEN ROCKING CHAIRLEG
*crack*

CLOSE UP. ABE’S FACE
His eyes widen and his eye lids twitch.

WIDE. LOG CABIN SET.
The rocking chair violently crashes to the ground. He falls backwards and his feet flip into the air. When his feet fall back down, one of his feet falls into the fireplace.

CLOSE. FIRE PLACE.
His foot starts to simmer. Because he is actually on stilts, he doesn’t notice right away.

WIDE. LOG CABIN SET.
Abe notices his foot is on fire so he screams and scrabbles off stage right, falling off the edge. Abe pops his head back onto the frame, embarrassed and sheepish, and call the tourists to follow him. Disappearing once again off stage right.

WIDE. GETTYSBURGH ADDRESS SET.
As the tourist shuffle onto the scene from the left, Abe is already on the stage, seated on one of the chairs behind the podiums. The stage is a replica of the stage he gave his Gettsburgh address on, with red, white and blue banners.

CLOSE. SPEAKERS SEAT.
Abe acts as if his name has been called and clumsily get to his feet.

MEDIUM. STAGE.
He bows and smiles as if a huge crowd was cheering him on. He gets in front of the podium and acts as if he was giving his speech once again.

WIDE. GETTSBURGH ADDRESS SET.
As he starts to get into his speech, moving his arms dramatically and walking around.

CLOSE. STAGE FLOOR.
While moving around, a floor board on the stage breaks and his foot/stilt falls.

MEDIUM. STAGE.
Unable to remove his tilt, Abe gets worried and tries to pull his leg out of the hole. While yanking, he actual foot dislodges from the stilt. Wobbling on only one stilt, Abe decided to step onto the podium instead and act as if everything was just fine.

WIDE. GETTSBURGH ADDRESS SET.
The loose stilt falls to the ground but Abe acts like nothing is wrong. Abe finishes his speech, smiles, bows and motions to the tourists to follow him to the right. He tries to exit on the right but as he his hopping he looses his balance and falls to the ground. Embarrassed, he curries off stage awkwardly, considering his pants are now two times too long. The tourist shuffle and exit off the right.

WIDE. THEATER SET.
As the tourist make their way onto the next scene, Abe is already on the personal balcony of the theater. He is acting out what happened that night he "died."

MEDIUM. BALCONY.
Being still very dramatic, he tried to regain the people's confidence. He pulls up his finger to his head like a gun, symbolizing the gun booth used that night. When he pulls the trigger to his finger gun, he reacts to the fake explosion. He stumbles around and accidentally falls off the balcony.

WIDE. BALCONY.
Luckily, one of his long pant legs catches on the posts of the balcony. As he swings there, the wall of the stage starts to wobble. The Abe's misfortune, the wall of the stage collapses, followed by the other two side of the stage. Dust rises to cover the frame.

CLOSE. ABE'S FACE.
The dust settles and Abe's face uncovered, bruised and broken. Abe signs.
FADE TO BLACK.
the end.

uninspired

i had some sweet ideas but they all involved people and drawing people intimidates me.

it's real nice.

this was my first longboarding whipeout. i was going fast and this couple decided to hog the sidewalk. i could have hit a tree, gone into the lake, or ate some grass. i decided on the last option and only got some scratches on my elbow.

totally worth it.

'Dishonest' Abe

I need to storyboard a short animation of abe lincoln giving a tour at a sitcom's set that is going horribly wrong. Here is Abe's background story.

Name: 'Dishonest' Abe
Favorite Food: Apple Pie
Hobby: Trickery
Biggest Fear: the Truth
Favorite Place to Sleep: the remade tourist log cabin "he grew up in"
Where does he live: in his pent house in Las Angelas
Favorite Show: Candid Camera
Favorite Obnoxious Sound: an airy soft "a" sound he puts after all of his sentences
Dominant Trait: Compulsive Lying
Where He Grew Up: backwoods, Kentucky
Backstory: Abe Lincoln was born to two humble parents somewhere in the backwoods of Kentucky. When he was still a baby, his real mother died of Potato Disease and before he was old enough to remember, his father re-married. During his teenage years, Abe worked at a local general store. He was hailed as a responsible 'nice young man' who worked diligently. Stores spread of his dedication to honesty. For example, one time a women who bought some tea and Abe overcharged her by 25 cents. He is known for returning the extra 25 cent he had charged, what people don't know is that he overcharged her by 30 cents. After his teenage years, Abe became a famous lawyer, the perfect career to continue to practice his subtle trickery. As everyone knows, he became President of the USA in 1860. He was overjoyed to achieve such a high position but he started to regret it all when he hear of a war brewing between the country. He knew this was going to be a pain in the butt. He cared so little of the occurrence that when he was asked to address the union, he couldn't even think of two minutes of filler. Luckily, no one caught on to his apathy and now his speech his hailed to be one of the greatest speeches in history. The nuisance of the war finally ended but he was unfortunate enough to be reelected by the people (damn that two minute speech). He couldn't take it any longer so his hired an old friend of his, John Booth, to stage his death. He was concerned the plan was too ridiculous because the only place they could stage his death was in a theater. Fortunately, no one questioned his death and he was able to escape to the west coast. Currently, his lives in Las Angelas working as an Abe Lincoln impersonator, this way he can act and dress as he once did without anyone being suspicious.
Kind of Parents: a distant hard working father and a suspicious but loving mother, who Abe suspects is actually a step-mother.
Best Thing That Ever Happened To Him: after his presidency, him and his buddy John faked Abe's death. Now he lives in Las Angelas working as an Abe Lincoln impersonator.
The Worst Thing That Ever Happened To Him: he couldn't open up to his first love and express who he really was and what he really wanted. as a result, she became deathly ill and pass away. Abe blames himself.

watercolor comic

so this is a beautiful watercolor comic.

i thought watercolors for a comic would be sweet to try out, so i butchered myself a comic.

the only comparison that you should be doing between these to comics is the medium. one is watercolor, the other is watercolor. no more comparison needed.  :S

facial expressions

here are intensity scales for anger and disgust.

these are some of my favorites

one of my favorite web comics the gamer's comic, Ctrl+Alt+Del by Tim Buckly. I read it for a good two years but currently, I'm out of the loop. Check it out at http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/.

Another comic I enjoy is FreakAngels (http://www.freakangels.com/?p=23) written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Paul Duffield. It is beautifully done. It is extremely impressive out the pop one of this out a week. I got pretty far in this one but haven't had the time catch up. I would love to though.

My third favorite comic is everyone's favorite comic. Do I even need to explain?

journal comic: hoedown

journal comic: drawing horse

9.9.10 - three hour long drawing class.

inked: aspect-to-aspect

behold, it's been inked. i used a sweet screen/wacom tablet to ink this in. it was pretty fun.

aspect-to-aspect

aspect-to-aspect is a technique used to introduce a scene. usually various closeups are used to paint a larger picture so that the viewer can get a feels for the scenario he is placed in. here is a great example of some introductory aspect-to-aspect shots:

Hope for Agoldensummer - 4th Night

here are six apsect-to-aspect reference shots that i will be drawing and posting later. there are from the department of nursing. i got scolded by a professor for talking these pictures, so i had to use them.

3. attaching the head to the body

i am still having trouble attaching the head to the body. i don't know what to do with the whole neck area. i think i'll just skip it. i drew a couple poses with just a simple skeleton

then i added some flesh. as you can see, some practice is still needed on the body as a whole.

cheers.
